Job Description
Our client a large insurance company are looking for a Part Qualified Assistant Account to work in there new division in Reigate.
You will provide a flexible accounting and administration support service within the management accounts area of the underwriting accounts team.
MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES
To carry out journal input and validation, providing the source data for the Company’s financial accounts.
To produce monthly expense reports and to investigate and explain variances to budget or forecast.
To produce monthly salary and headcount reports and to investigate and explain variances to budget or forecast.
To produce monthly revenue reports including distribution analysis and to investigate and explain variances to budget or forecast.
To produce the monthly management accounts package, and supporting schedules, used by the management team to assess the Company’s financial performance.
To support the Financial Planning & Analysis Accountant in the production of annual budget, for consolidation into the Group’s 5 year strategic plan.
To support the Financial Planning & Analysis Accountant in the production of the quarterly forecast that is consolidated to measure the Group’s performance against the plan.
To complete various schedules, working papers and reconciliations as required by the Financial Planning & Analysis Accountant.
To assist in additional tasks and projects to support the Financial Planning & Analysis Accountant as required.
To support the Financial Planning & Analysis Accountant to ensure processes are critically reviewed and improved for operational effectiveness. Producing and maintaining accurate procedural documentation for use by other team members.
To provide cover for the Assistant Accountant in the team during periods of absence.
To deputise for the Financial Planning & Analysis Accountant during periods of absence.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE
€¢ Numeracy: Demonstrable accuracy and numerical skills, with the ability to detect inconsistent or erroneous data. Accuracy is paramount to the successful performance of this role.
€¢ Technical: A good understanding of the technical aspects of accounting. Must be CIMA/ACCA finalist. Specific accounting experience in a similar working environment.
€¢ Communication: Exhibits a good listening and questioning technique with the ability to maintain clear and accurate records. Ability to respect confidentiality and build / maintain good working relationships with both internal customers and colleagues.
€¢ Information Technology: Good PC keyboard skills. Excel experience is essential. Experience of using other Microsoft Office packages & Crystal Reports, JD Edwards is desirable.
€¢ Problem Solving: Ability to approach and solve problems in a logical manner with minimal guidance.
